ECHO Walking Festival – Te Aroha’s Golden Valley – Waiorongomai Explore

8 April

Join our knowledgeable guides for a full day’s exploration of this historic goldmining area. This walk takes us to the upper reaches of the Valley, through regenerating native bush to explore pack tracks and tramlines from gold mining days, including New Zealand’s oldest tramline (1882-83) with much of the original rail still in place. A shorter option will be considered if the weather is unfavourable. Optional soak in the No. 2 Bathhouse in Te Aroha Domain ($8 per person) after the walk.
