The Te Aroha Angling Club run a fishing tournament every November with proceeds raised to finance a huge 'Take a Kid Fishing' day up on Coromandel in April.

When fishing on the Waihou River, you are required to have a valid fishing permit.

Fishing licences can be bought over the counter at Te Aroha i-SITE.
