Central North Island of the Royal NZ Pipe Band Association Contest

After performing a Street March on Spur Street at around 10:30am the bands will head up to the Domain to compete in their ‘music’ events. 

Each band will perform their March, Strathspey and Reel, and will then return to the competition circle to perform in the ‘Medley’ event, this event allows a more ‘freestyle’ selection of tunes, usually including Hornpipes, Jigs, Reels and Slow Airs. 

At the completion of the event there will be a massed bands, often a highlight for the listening public. It is envisaged that the music events will run from 12:30pm to approximately 3:00pm.

The iconic Te Aroha Domain provides a beautiful backdrop for the bands, and the contest organisers are grateful to the Te Aroha Croquet Club and MPDC for their willing support of the event.
